At Porch Light Counseling, we are committed to supporting families in all life stages. We know one of the most challenging times for couples is the transition to parenthood. Whether adding to your family is a surprise or has been planned for a while, this shift can cause major stress for your partnership. In 2015, I wrote a short blog post about some of the most common changes I observe in relationships as my clients add to their families. In my work with couples, this transition can be both lovely and scary as they navigate how to maintain and strengthen their connection and learn to be the best parents they can be.

We are very excited to have the opportunity to share more information about this topic at the Perinatal Emotional Health Network event on March 27thfrom 5:30 to 7pm. This event is free to the public and dinner is provided. Andrew and Elizabeth will be exploring some of the common challenges new parents face in their relationship from an attachment perspective, as well as tangible coping strategies to support families during the beautiful and stressful experience of new parenthood. This event is for anyone interested in attending, including providers, parents, and support people.
